Short summary
Fourier transform infrared emission spectroscopy measures the infrared radiation originating from the thermal emission of the atmosphere. The measured interferograms are transformed into spectra via Fourier transformation. The established method for calibration is strictly speaking only valid for infinitely long interferograms. We quantify the errors caused by this idealization in a case study.
