This paper presents the application of the CISAR (Combined Inversion of Surface and AeRosol) algorithm on both geostationary (SEVIRI) and polar-orbiting (Proba-V) satellite data. This paper analyses the information content associated with the observations acquired by these two instruments and its implication on the joint retrieval of surface and atmospheric properties. CISAR-retrieved aerosol properties and surface albedo are compared with the AERONET and MODIS data respectively.
